Are there any quality one's out there? I dont understand why grenadines are so expensive. I've seen many and have researched on brands many of you have recommended (Sam Hober and Kent Wang's) but those are all over my budget. I've a rule, never pay over $50 for a tie and I havent broke it.

Thoughts/help please.

Cheers

CT has some grenadines on offer. Not sure about shipping rates, though

Chipp2/Paul Winston sells pretty decent ones for $42 plus shipping. They're the finer weave, not the larger more open weave some people prefer. The ties are not listed on their website, you need to call them and order. They have Navy, Black,Burgundy,Yellow, Grey, Forest Green, Rust/brown, and Aubergine. Phone number is 212 687-0850.

I was pleased, especially for the price.

I've looked and looked and have not seen any grenadines in that range. Thank you though.

Gibonius,

Thank you for the informative reply. I'm not quite sure what you mean finer vs larger weave. Do you've an example or a picture? How would you rate a decent tie on a scale from 1-10 and lets say a Sam Hober on a 1-10? I'm just trying to distinguish if there is a striking difference or not.

Cheers

Check out this thread for a discussion on the two types of grenadine weaves: http://www.styleforum.net/showthread.php?t=214557 My overall experience with grenadines is limited so I can't do a point-by-point comparison. It ties a nice 4IH knot and hasn't suffered damage of any type yet. Worth the $42 is about all I can conclude at this point, and I'd get another without much hesitation (trying to avoid it for now, just for the sake of my wallet). A Hober is on my list, but I'm still too small timer to spring $100 for a tie

Thanks you, Gib.

I'm going to call that store later this week. I'm looking for a brown, grey, black, navy, and possibly a red/burgundy.

Yes, I guess I'm too "small time" too as the other person stated.
