I can vouch for the Woodlands socks.

They're really thick and warm. Definitely worth it at $12. I bought 2 more pairs after receiving the first pair.

smartwool PhD socks are the best there is. Aside from dress socks, I wear these with almost everything, even when i go to the gym.
