Inexpensive Fitted Swim Shorts

I'm looking for a pair of relatively inexpensive trunks for the upcoming season. I want them to hit mid-thigh (4-6" inseam) and have a classic look. I live on the west coast where the 'style' is baggy, long and graphic-riden. This upsets me. I've peeked around at the Parke & Ronen website but they are a touch out of my price range; looking for ones between $50-80. Any suggestions?

I'm also on the west coast. Although I wouldn't say the style is exactly baggy, but the swimwear around here is pretty bad. Check our Lightning Bolt. They're a surf company that started in Hawaii back in the 70s or so and much of their current products pull from that era. I have a pair of boardies by them with a button snap enclosure and probably a 5-6" inseam; they have several styles though. There's also Birdwell Beach Britches. They were really big 40 years ago and issued many of the lifeguards their boardshorts. They produce lots of different cuts, their shortest being probably around 6" inseam. The material is 'surfnyl' which has a vinyl like feel which many do not like. Another more recent company is Warriors of Radness. They're basically trying to play of that 80s retro feel, using bright colors etc. A lot of the boardshorts are overdone but it looks like they have some more basic styles and the inseam looks to be maybe a little longer than you want, worth a look regardless though. I'm always looking for new boardies, so I'll be checking this thread for more recommendations.

Be warned: the Lightning Bolt shorts run large. If you wear less than about a 31 in most pants you can forget about these, even in a small

jcrew has some dope camo boardshorts with a shorter inseam, as well as other styles like patchwork madras, floral, etc.

The board shorts is a 'little boys' look. Come on, we're not 19 year olds.I bought two pairs of Zegna shorts - 13" outseam - Problem is, they are thin - it's basically saran wrap over two grapes, if you know what I mean.
Kjam - have you thought about Villebrequin? whusurdadi (on SF) has a few pairs for sale. I just got a large and will report back. But I heard they are good.

For years, I've been interested in finding something similar to the infamous Daniel Craig swimshorts from Casino Royal... maybe a tad longer. Who made those? Assuming they're priced out of reach of all normal people, any similar item been found for less?

Park & Ronen make those or similar ones, 100+ though. I'd advise some pushups and crunches though

+1 Half of why Craig looked so badass in that movie was how fit he was.

They actually do look pretty fitted. Wish they had free shipping... $9 for two trunks eats up their 25% discount... :|

Their website is totally useless. Any advice with those guys?

I'm not really into madras or floral, so the Villebrequin are out of the question. I might just have to bite the bullet and go for some Parke & Ronen's
