Sumo is the dekopon. Allegedly the most delicious citrus ever grown, according to our fruit detective, David Karp. So much, of course, depends on the growing area, the specific variety, the age of the trees and the talent of the farmer. this is the first or second week they've been showing up here and the early reports are that they are better than last year, which was the first season we've had them in any kind of volume.

I bought a case of them today. They are just okay.

I'm sure you can understand my frustration. The satsumas I had last week were some of the best citrus I've tasted. Unfortunately, their season just ended.
From last week:

And here are the sumos I bought today:
AppleMark
I am actually eating one as I type this. It has gotten to room temp and is much more enjoyable. But they are still not as delicious as those satsumas.

The Sumos that I've had this year are better than the Satsumas that I had, to my palate at least. The second batch of Sumos that has come in here has been better than the first too.

Fish looks really great. How many pounds?

We don't have sumos here, nor satsumas (or at least they always sell clementines and I'm not really sure how to discern them). These are the best I can get right now, clemenvillas (a hybrid of clementines and tangellos (a hybrid of tangerine and pomelo or grapefruit)) from Spain.
