Found some pictures on the parents' old hard drive yesterday. Blue Prawn (not my hands) Frog legs Honey Mussels Arctic char, stuffed with meyer lemon, fine herbs, baby onions, and some fennel.

not only this, but i have a good friend whose family business is the export of saffron. he keeps telling me about all these french and spanish companies come buy a bunch in bulk then 'cut it' with their own hay of a saffron to double the volume and market it as spanish/french.

afghanistan also produces excellent saffron but the main export there is of course derived from another plant whose products are more profitable, presumably because of the risks and legal issues...
