The Levis vintage truckers are actually not that boxy, it fits me almost perfectly.

My favorite denim jacket of all that I've handled is a slim yellow selvedge raw denim Spurr jacket based on the lee 101j. I bought one off of robin last year for a great price. The fit is amazing and the copper buttons are really nice. That said, I'd really love a high quality type I or type II jacket from one of the Japanese repro brands.

I really like denim jackets, but IMO you gotta watch what pants you wear with them. Denim jacket and jeans=really tacky in my book. Especially if they are of the same color/wash.
I have a dark levis jacket I typically wear with cinos or black dickies.

i agree with this, the arms fit me perfectly. the back is a little boxy but its a great fit overall.

maybe ill get a brown one

cb_32, I like the dark denim jacket + dark jeans look when they fit perfectly and are part of an overall vintage rock 'n roll/rockabilly style. By dark I don't mean brand new, just dark. The details have to be just right for it to look good... stuff like contrasting tan or brown boots and a bright western shirt or work shirt, selvedge cuffs, cool hair. Even when that looks good though, it can look costumey, so I wouldn't recommend doing it too often. Denim jackets work well in a much less flashy way with chinos, especially khaki and black ones.

Mr. Olive makes the slimmest jean jackets I've found. Check them out at Blue Owl (affiliate). I'm selling a raw indigo one in the B+S for a good deal.

Do we have a jean jacket thread?

when looking for photos of jean jackets put to good use, it's difficult to find them, and even more difficult because Kanye is all over the place in his. But a couple I think are pretty good, some better than others, some very different from others, and two token celebrity shots (from google, SF, IH forum, GQ):










The last two especially look good.
