is it true that in s.korea, older guys can come up to smack a girl (over legal smoking age) on the head who smokes in public?

at least that's what i heard.

depends on how serious the smack is? i've never seen it though. i've seen them smack someone pretty hard (they were in a fight) but specifically for smoking... not really and what the hell kind of question is this?

I've lived in Korea for a number of years, and while I have not seen this myself if someone told me they had seen it I would not even be remotely surprised. I have seen women accosted in public, called crazy bitches, among other niceties, for smoking in public. The idea that a drunk older man might do this is very, very plausible.

That's in Japan. In Korea they prefer the "ddong-chim". But your intentions are right and good.
