Hi guys,

I was having a browse online (Ebay etc) for a suit when I decided I needed some major help.

I have found plenty of sharp suits however I am struggling to decipher whether they are legitimate or replicas (Fakes).

Are there any tips/advice any one has to help.. I know the main rule in online shopping is "if it seems to good to be true, it probably is a fake".

For example I found this lovely Zegna Sport. Do the pictures in the link look real or fake?

I can't really tell if they are fake just looking at the pictures. I hope someone else can, you have a lot of specialists on here they will surely soon come to your rescue.

Looks quite nice from the picture, but it doesn't have enough information for me to say one way or another (I'm no expert). Link to the auction? Certain sellers are well known and a good indicator of legitimacy. If you're afraid of sniping, then don't say, but look at the seller's history. It could be a good indicator.

This may be a nice suit, but you can't tell anything about the construction or quality. Is is made by an unnamed, unknown maker.

It is not a Zegna. It is Zegna CLOTH. Zegna made the cloth, not the actual suit. Lots of crappy suits are made with Zegna cloth. Lots of good suits are as well. But since they are saying nothing about the maker, I think it's pretty clear they are trying to mislead.

IMO It is intended to mislead you into thinking you are buying something that you are not. I would never buy this.

It's possible the buyer doesn't know what he's got. What I can see... Good - Pattern matching on the pockets. - High gorge with conservative lapels = looks up to date. Bad -mystery MTM tailor. MTM is often dangerous when that guy isn't you. -700 bucks could get you a 100% real deal guaranteed Zegna from Ebay. EDIT: Are those plastic buttons?

I was told it was a 2011 "Zegna soft Cloth suit made from Zegna warehouses in Italy"

Can anyone recommend a reputable seller on Ebay ?

Thanks for the info guys, appreciate it...

I hear the name Sartoriale bandied around here, but he's outta my price range, so I haven't looked too deep into it.

It is not a Zegna suit, rather a suit made with Zegna cloth. Does not mean it wont be a good suit, but without being able to inspect it by hand, you could end up with anything. Don't pay too much for uncertainty.

Seems crazy to pay that much for that suit. For crying out loud, you can get this Oxxford

http://cgi.ebay.com/New-OXXFORD-Type...item5d2c3b273b

for a little over $100 more. For the money you're considering spending, you can find way better deals on Ebay than generic "Zegna cloth" suits.
