Now until the 16th of April 20% discount available on the European RL sites
post #771 of 925
StyleForum has gotten me to the point that a 20% or 25% discount doesn't even move the needle for me anymore. I've gotten to the point where I wait for at least 30% of to buy the basic items that "never go on sale" (but really do) and 40% or more for everything else.

So, as for RL, I'm holding out 'til the next 30% + 15% sale for my spring purchases. Don't need much this year (probably only a few sportshirts and maybe a pair or two of shorts). What I've been doing the past few seasons is buying the things I "need" or "musthave" at the early season 30%+15% sale, then picking up the things I "like" or "could use" at the end of the season at clearance prices. Bought several sportshirts at the end of last season for about $25 a pop.

Lucky you, I have somewhat the opposite experience.
I live in the Netherlands, they don't sell RLPL or PLBL here in brick and mortar stores. One can only find Polo RL in stores here. The closest RL boutiques located to where I live are Paris and London, so I typically have to order online. I visit RL Paris typically twice a year.

The 20% discount sale started yesterday for the European online stores. There were three items I was considering purchasing before the sale started, but waited it out hoping to purchase them on sale. By the time the sale started only one item that I wanted was available in my size. I purchased a PL Polo in my size and in the color I wanted, I got the last one. I checked after purchasing it by selecting the same item -> the color -> my size was no longer listed -> meaning I got the last one.

In my experience there is very little worth while PL or BL items to be had on 20% discount if you have average sizes (my sizes: medium in knits and sport shirts, 15 1/2 in dress shirts and 30 in pants) and are purchasing online. If you have size S or XL then you could probably snag a few killer deals at 20%. By the time items hit 30% +15% anything worth while in my size is long gone.

I have been to RL Paris and London a few times, the variety of worth while stuff you can get on sale their in my sizes is a lot wider.

There is also a lot of difference between the US online store and the French one as the selection is much larger on the US store.

The 20% discount is/was offered for a few days on the RL websites. If it is no longer advertised on the RL websites homepage for your country then the 20% discount does not apply there anymore.
The offer is still valid in Europe until the 16th of April.

The thing with RL is that it has a substancial more expensice price in europe than in the states for the same product, problably due to some type of tax, its the same with other american brands like Levi´s or Timberland

That is generally true for RL, although when I was in the RL Paris location a few years ago, I bought a great pair of pants that was surprisingly much less than similar or identical one's sold in the us. Btw, does anyone know when the Private sale will be this year. I try to buy most of the reasonably priced items during that time and wait till the end of the season to buy the real nice specialty jackets and sweaters during the end of the season. If I am not mistaken, during previous years, they have been towards the end of April, beginning of May time period. I am assuming it will be the same this year.
