Been there done that with treadmills, stair masters etc. All lame. Anything with a repetitive motion that you do over and over again will have limited value.

Is it better than sitting on your ass munching bon bons? You bet. But sitting on a stair master vs doing 30 minutes of Insanity (or similar program) - there is no comparison.

Im down to my lowest body fat and weight in 20+ years due to Insanity.

Crossfit, Inasnity, P90x - anything that varies movements will blow the pants off a stair master.

I just do cardio in my basement while watching whatever's on the DVR. Half hour a day. Start off jogging in place, then if i get bored with that I switch to jumping jacks or run-lunges. Make sure to keep my heart rate 160+. Cost=$30 for the HR monitor.

If you have <500 - I'd get a bicycle trainer over rollers - just easier to zone out and watch TV on.

If you have ~1000 - I'd get a Concept 2. You just won't get a machine that does more for you than that.

I know that the OPT guy uses an Airdyne, but I've never messed with one of those before.
