Soccer team mascot killed when kicked off the field

It wasn't actually a tame animal used as a mascot. As I understand it, the owl lived around there, was wild, and was basically considered to be a mascot.

I think the soccer ball may have done most of the damage. It looked to me more as if the guy just trying to shoo it off the field than inflict fatal harm on the luckless owl.

On second thought, what kind of retarded owl hangs out on a soccer field in broad daylight with a game in progress? We may have seen Darwinian natural selection at work!
