WTF GQ? I was sort of excited to see that the pocket square was going to get some love in this month's GQ, but this is what they published. I was about to go on a rant, but posted without further comment :

That is horrible in more ways than I can count.

I like this hank that my wife gave to me. It's a nice variation on the solid-with-colored-edge style typically seen.

Everyone loves chambray, but especially if it's poly-cotton chambray.

Hey Everyone,

Was hoping I could get some opinions on a combination I have been contemplating:

These will be worn with a dark navy suit and some lighter brown shoes (most likely monk straps).

Thanks,

Shane

To each his own. But to me a pre-tied bow tie takes the hassle out of neckwear, but is lacking. I put pocket circles in the same category.

Shane,

I'd recommend against all the furnishings you're proposing for your navy suit. The reason is that the dark navy suit is a business garment, and should be accompanied by appropriately sober garnishings. Darker brown shoes, maybe even medium brown shoes, are fine, but light brown shoes cheapen it. Once they're monkstraps as well, it becomes almost a parody of itself. The tie and pocket square you chose are both louder than what I would want to put with a navy suit, and certainly not together. Put all these accessories with a cotton or linen tan suit, and you could have something nice, although the pocket square would be better off as cotton or linen itself. But with a navy suit, in my opinion you're just ruining what might be a nice suit.

So GQ says silk squares are out of style?....wtf?...or am I that old and past it?
