Soul Mates: Do You Believe in Them?

Do you believe that there is only one person in this world that we are meant for?

I don't believe in soulmates. I do believe that there are group of people you have amazing chemistry with, they can be close friends or much more.

even if I believed in souls I'd still say no. Even as an individual across a lifetime we're constantly changing. What may be a perfect match at a given time often ends up being an imperfect match at a later point as the two individuals inevitably grow on their own but not necessarily together.

I really liked this story when I was little. A part of me still believes in it but I know that compatability plays a bigger role in the grand scheme of things.

My thoughts tend toward no. Master-Classter's point cover one end, but even once you do settle in to who you are as a person, there are plenty of people out there, who given some time and experience, one could probably fall in love with or come to love. Add that to the ability to communicate and compromise, and you have a happy, healthy relationship.

I thought compatibility was a part of being soulmates? Ever been in love, du?

I don't think this is always the case. I know a lot of couples with opposite personalities/vastly different interests and they seem to be alright. However, in my experience, I would say they are the minority so it could go either way really.

My thoughts exactly, perhaps at a given time two people are meant for eachother....

I don't feel like my chances are limited to 1 in 3 billion.

See- I thought that was compatibility right there.

My idea of compatability includes sharing the same interests, hobbies, beliefs, and values. I also believe similar socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures play a part in who we end up with. The couples I mentioned seem to share none of these things. Soul mates and compatability aren't mutually exclusive as far as I'm concerned.

Could have been a merkur one.

I think it's something I want to believe in.... but can't quite. When I was 14 I found my soulmate, then again when I was 17, 19, 20, 22..... Statistically, and realistically it's just not possible.

My problem is I'm a huge romantic combined with a coldly logical brain... it's a frustrating combination.
