I've asked this question before without success, and it's not strictly related to care, but given the amount of shoe construction expertise here, I wanted to ask.
I almost never wear my AE shoes anymore because I can feel the front of the heel piece through the sole putting pressure on my foot and it's quite uncomfortable.
Could this be due to the lack of shank, and if so, would having a shank installed when I get them resoled help?
Does this happen on both shoes or one?
Both left and right and namely on the inside edge. I'm pronated which probably amplified the effect. The worst offenders are my most worn Allen Edmond's which are brown park avenues with single leather soles.
I have Aldens that I've worn more that have no discernible feeling of difference between the heel stack and the rest of the sole, buy they're all double leather as well which seems to help.
