Cream, then Paste (wax). Keep in mind that most cream polish includes wax as one of the main ingredients. Even though some manufactures refer to their paste polish as wax polish, it implies that cream polish is not wax based, which can be misleading. Cream polish certainly has a lower wax ratio then paste polish, but the difference is not as great as you might think.
The reason I mention this that you really don't need to use both cream and paste. Cream will add more color and conditioner to your shoe than paste, and paste will allow you to produce a higher shine. In your case cream would be the better option for affecting the color, but you could add paste as well if you desired a higher shine than cream alone would give you.
I will note one exception, in that it is easier to localize color (as in adding color to specific areas of the shoe to create an antique effect) when using paste because the higher wax ratio gives you more control over the spread of the polish.
