On the street - looking for a Shoe Care Thread:

"My friend, can you suggest a good site to learn about the proper care for shoes?", asked Man #1

"Perhaps.  There is a forum site which has a thread titled "Official Shoe Care Thread", including tutorials and photos.  But be careful", answered Man #2

"Why is that?"

"The topic is good, but recently the photos have been far and few between.  Moreover, the tutorials have developed into Official Arguments."

"How so?"

"After my first introduction, it was suggested that I apply for an Argument in the Official Shoe Care" thread.  So I did."

"And?"

"A nice lady took my application, and pointed me toward four Most Active Members, which was supposed to be four separate participants with different styles of rhetoric in order for me to learn of the heart of the topic on how to best care for my shoes."

"How did you proceed?"

"I started with Most Active Member #1 in the thread, who was hiding behind the first Door on the right side of my screen.  It did not go well."

"What do you mean by 'hiding'?"

"He was not using his real name.  He chose to hide from his real name by using a hidden name, an alias.  I think they call it a Used Name, or something like that."

"What did you do?"

"I proceeded to Most Active Member #2 in the thread, who was hiding behind the second Door.  But he spoke and acted like the same man behind the first door and identity, only was made up to change his appearance a little.  But his projected disrespect was of the same lack of civility."

"And?"

"I left and proceeded to Most Active Members #3 and #4 behind their respective hidden doors, only to discover all of them were of the same morality, and that their real mission was to bait newcomers, such as I, into their arguments, under the guise that Contention Should Breed Truth."

"Did the contention help you get to the truth?"

"I am not sure.  Before long, three others with badges interrupted the dialog and argument, and shut down the discourse."

"How do I know if you are telling me the truth?  Do you have any proof?

"I captured it on Video.  For your pleasure, here it is:

"Then what happened?"

"Someone else came along, using their real name, and offered a very nice dissertation, based on evidence and with a contentious spirit."

"What did the Most Active Members have to say about the dissertation by someone using their real name?

"Not much.  But in the end, they conceded on most of the points, as if revelation had occurred."

"Has the thread settled down so that I can participate without contention?"

"Perhaps.  The author of the dissertation, using his real name, is beginning to drift off the thread, and the Most Active Members appear to be looking for their next argument of contention."

"Should I use my real name?"

"If you wish to keep your emotions in check, then yes.  The downside is you have to not take the arguments aimed at your real name personally.  If you are afraid, insecure, or wish to join in on the contentions, then perhaps you should use a phony name, alias, or one of those "Used Names", or whatever they call it.

"Thank you very much.  How will I know when I see you on the forum site?"

"I'm the one wearing a target on my back.  Can't miss me!"

Sorry David .It was a moment of giddyness precipitated by joy at your return
Now a question .Recently I applied a coat of leather honey to my new bespoke shoes and left them on my kitchen counter . The next morning I found them eaten to the soles by ants .Can Renovateur fix this?

I believe the recommendations from the Most Active Members (MAM's) in this great thread is:

Heavy soaking using Lexol, followed by liberal use of Venetian Shoe Cream.

And rather than spray them with a water-repellant from Saphir, I believe Ron with recommend a healthy spray on using "RAID".

Looks like I picked a bad day to...stop drinking coffee...sniff glue...& post a shoe care question in this thread. So, I'll try again:

Is there a reason why cream polishes or dubbins are labeled "for smooth leather"? Do they cause problems if used w/ grain leathers?
