But I think a light suede sheet is best suited for me to spread over legs and sofa/floor because I don't need to stand or walk while polishing shoes

A little while back I posted some Lobbs, Chapels, that I had received from Barneys with a nick in the back and some wear on that particular shoe (was a floor model that they sent via an online order). I ended up returning them and ordering the same size from JL's store on Madison Ave. They were brand new and fit like a dream. The only problem now is how to wear anything else. Of course, I scuffed them a bit after a week of wear (i was traveling so wore them every day...a crime, I know!) but no deep gouges like I had from the prior store model.

Well, it was there since it arrive to me. I believe it's defect on the leather, it looks darker at the spot.

Just want to know if there any treatment could make the mark fade out.

Don't you have the option of returning them, or did you buy them knowing they might have a defect?

I bought from the aftermarket since I didn't want to wait for couple month to get the custom made for this boots. Since the beginning this defect was acceptable, now I just curious to know if there anybody here in this "Shoe Care Thread" may have a better idea to fade it out or make it looks better. Thanks guys!

It is hard to tell from the picture what the nature of the mark is. If it is a mark on the finish of the leather, you might be able to remove, or at least diminish, most of it by using RenoMat. If the mark goes into the leather itself to any degree, you probably won't get rid of it.

If the Renovateur, that you bought already, doesn't get rid of the mark (and I suspect it won't), then I would try striping both boots (just to keep them even) with RenoMat. It would also be a good idea to give the boots a good once over with leather conditioner after using RenoMat. After waiting a day for the leather conditioner to soak in you could try putting the Renovateur back on again if you like.

It is indeed difficult to downshift from JL, I think people do that when the Lobb last is not perfect for them and there are better fitting or looking lasts in other shoe brands (e.g. TF or italian narrower lasts), or the person wants to have more good enough shoes (e.g. GG, CJ etc) in different styles and colors for money than having one perfect pair in JL

Or people want to experience bespoke/MTO for less price like Meccariello etc, or just diversify in other similar quality brands like Corthay, Bemer ...

What do you do for ratty front edges like that?  I always scuff the fronts of my shoes, I'm thinking about getting toe taps on all of them or nailed on metal toe protectors.  I realized after polishing a couple of my lower end shoes that shoe care is one of my favorite things to pass the time.
