You don't use canned patina for your shoes?

Many make polishing of shoes so complicated?

- Cream

- Wax

- Renovateur (used every 6 months)

DONE.

Yep. Seems like any old rubbish is passable as truth.

Just stopped by On The Fly in Embarcadero. I have a new pair of chocolate brown suede Carmina's. Any suede protector I should spray before wearing? Saphir has black, dark brown, medium brown Suede sprays. Vectras is another suede protector option suggested by Shine Co.

Anyone have experience with either?

Fritzl mentioned in the EG thread the effect of Sole Oil or leather grease on the soles of leather soled shoes giving them waterproofing and lengthening the life etc etc. Anyone any experience of similar or what do you use if anything...???? Is leather grease what we used to call Dubbin or Chelsea Leather Food ? Any thoughts ?

It doesn't really matter what you use as long as it is conditioning. FWIW, I use Obaneuf's Leather Oil.

Have tried Saphir, rather unimpressed, no discernible difference between it and other brands, including the cheaper ones.

But if you do end up using the Saphir go for Med Brown, the dark brown tint is very dark, almost black

Fritzl uses Gutra if I'm not mistaken which is a great product, but not commonly available in the UK, so Chelsea LF is the way to go.

They have actually started calling it Dubbin leather food now I believe. Importantly though it's the same product as yesteryear, which is better than any conventional dubbin as it does not weaken stitching & allows for a hard polish after use - if desired.
