French heritage brands?

Who are they? I know of only Lacoste and Falconnable. This is a companion thread to the British Heritage one, which has proven very useful.

Hermes is kind of a heritage brand. Started off making saddles, expanded into really expensive wallets and ties with baby owls on them, etc.

Louis Vuitton

Dior

Chanel

Yves Saint Laurent

I thought Falconnable was a fake brand.

Other than some YSL ties...I have no idea Dior and Chanel even make men's stuff.

Dior definitely does - that's the "Homme" in "Dior Homme". I don't know about Chanel, seems unlikely.

Good catch. Chanel does not.

Dior Homme is AMAZING.

Sigh, seriously guys, welcome to 1999. Dior, yes, has made men's items forever, but in the "premium" area since 2001 or so. Chanel has also started putting out a small number of items in men's sizes, that they even show on the runway. They don't have a full men's collection, but every season they'll have any number of men's items. SO, yes, they make men's stuff. It's harder, I think, to define a French "heritage" brand, because French fashion and accessories have always been at the forefront (avant-garde!) of radically changing style... and so it really depends. SO, while Hermes might be considered an heritage brand, so perhaps would be something like Ungaro or Givenchy. You'd have to select what you wanted, whether in the accessories area (Goyard), shoes (Massaro), parfum (Guerlain), etc. British styling, IMHO, seems much more about traditions/heritage, etc. French, not so much.

^good call. Paraboot Michael´s are probably the best quality shoes i have, and among the best ive seen. Leather, last, finishing, everything is great.
