i think i'm going to end up going with these:

they're in my price range and they look pretty good. thoughts?

I like those. You can't go wrong with an engineer boot. classic as hell. and Chippewa is a good maker so the quality wont be suspect. Good choice, better than your first!

These boots look like orthopedic shoes.
YOOX might have a better boots for you in the same price range.
Zappos.com is a source of crappy shoes (quality/construction).
Lumiani is their own brand and it is by far the worst quality shoes I ever seen.
I returned 2 pares they were made of dry, spotty colored leather that was way too thin for a shoe. Stay away from Lumiani and stay away from Zappos in general if you want quality footwear.
The same warning is for Maldini shoes on YOOX. Another "internal" brand owned by YOOX and of inferior quality.

As for Kenneth Cole New York line., their shoes are well worth of $70.00-$100.00 if you like the style. Some of them made in Italy and have full leather construction. I have one pare from 1997 that i don't wear often, but they held up very well.
