ok thanks chorse and marc.
luckily there is a zara across the street from my job also but i was apprehensive to mention it as those suits are likely cheap and in the past, they were sold as a set so if the pants were 4 sizes too small i was out of luck. (and by past i mean last year) and the same thing happened to me in H&M this weekend.
i will def. check it out today also.
thanks.

Just bear in mind that you'll get what you pay for, to some extent. An H&M suit, if you go that route, isn't going to give you any longer service than your BR. But sometimes a pressing need is a pressing need....

ok.. found one at zara.. in fact there was a couple modern looking suits for cheap. i went with their "stylish" collection which is more fitted and i went with the no pattern black color. it seemed to fit best. someone here said earlier that black is not great for the weddings so i hope this isnt really bad :/
the whole thing was $300. i just have to find a fitted shirt and tie for it. i am thinking classic white shirt, or maybe white shirt with vertical black stripe.
thanks for all your advice

black suits are great for goth weddings...

this might be ok for going out to bars/clubs but I wouldn't wear a black suit to a wedding, although it's certainly been done before, as someone said before, it's not in good taste.

Maybe H&M, K&G or Zara would be your best bet.

good taste or not, black suits are everywhere at weddings. i wouldn't sweat it. look sharp and party it up. go for a nice solid coloured tie..like red..mm...

If you must wear a black suit to a wedding, please wear other items in less goth colours: white&black shirt + solid red tie is about as stark as you can get. Weddings are supposed to be happy occasions, I think you should dress respectfully but with some softness and a sense of fun. Besides shirt and tie, a puffed or elaborately-pointed pocket square is a great way to add some of that. It's also too bad that your shoe choices are so limited by the black pants.

I thought it was considered bad to wear a solid black suit to someone else's wedding because you would then be dressed to go to a funeral.
