No, chelseas are not made by C&J. They are made by A&S and they are on last 87.

Can someone confirm that the chelseas are on last 87? They look kind of pointy though.

what's the issue? is it quality or fit related?

quality related. i mean it's just not what i think of when i think of a shoe that costs $500. i'm also slightly bothered by the fact that they are gore and not zip.

You didn't pay $500 for it, so what's the complaint?

I once bought a pair of AE chukkas for $170. those looked better. you see what i'm saying?

What did you buy? Chelsea boots or suede cap toes? If boots, I might agree but the cap toes are nice and better than anything AE offers.

i bought the the black calf chelsea boots. don't get me wrong they're not bad, i just don't know if it's worth the $250.

Like I said, I haven't seen the chelseas so can't say anything, if you don't think they are worth the money, return them.

I just got the brown Chelseas. They fit me perfectly.*

I have a question though: Are these OK with conservative suits? I have a few navy and gray suits that I wear every day to work. I know black Chelseas are a better call for suiting but I already have two black lace-ups in the rotation and I want to expand my palette.

THANKS for any advice that may be offered.

* 10D in these, and I wear a 10D in just about everything else including Alden, AE (Italian model, not last 5!), and sneakers.

Received the brown suede semi-brogues last week. The 87 last seems to fit my feet well, at least trying on indoors; we'll see how the shoes do after a full day of use sometime in September.

Also, I may just have a preference for round toes, but I don't know why people call the last designs used by BB Peal shoes "clunky" or "stodgy". They look perfectly elegant to me.

How are the chelseas? Able to pair with jeans and with business casual?
