Initially I was looking at the Weymouth, but it only comes in normal calf which isnt as "shiny" since I have decided to put off the G&G boots, I have decided to go for the Portman 3 Dark Brown Antique calf, anyone has a pair of those? Comments? I like the Antique Calf looks like it can take on a nice shine. The design (which is why I was looking at G&G boots) looks like it would go well with my jacket, shirt and jeans style.

hmm my post disappeared, I am looking into getting the Portman 3 dark brown antique calf. thoughts comments? I was looking at the wyemouth but since i was supposed to get the GG boot and decided to wait till I been wearing leather shoes for a while I figure this would fit my style of jacket shirt and jeans quite well.

I have a question about this pair of Lowndes on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=251220034483

Are these really a size 11? I imagine these would be labeled with an "E" if that was UK sizing, right? It makes me think these might be in American sizing since this was from Barneys? idk. I don't want to buy the wrong size. :)

I have two C&J's purchased from Barneys, and they are both in US sizes. I also have C&J for Peal and Ralph Lauren, and they are US size.

I think it's likely that these are a US 10D.

I have them They are extremely tight for me. If its warm I cannot wear them as the instep becomes too small for my swollen feet. Dont know if its visible from the photos, but you can see the creasing around the instep. If I compare them to 337 weymouth, 341 finsbury, 348 edgware, 325 chepstow they are narrower than all of them and I have no problem with any of these lasts. I also have a problem with the heel which feels too tight. Its a real pity, cause I think the last looks really nice. If I am to rank the lasts I have, going from favourite to worst I think I'd go like this:
  1. 337
  2. 341
  3. 325
  4. 348
  5. 365 (islay. too wide imo)
  6. 238
Hope that helps :)
What's the elongation like, compared to 348?

Thanks lads. Has anyone had any luck asking them to make a pair out of reddish burgundy or do you reckon they are pretty set on what they have? (provided I pay for the custom)

They will consider most options if you want to place a special order; drop them a line or call them to get an idea if what you're after is possible.

And be ready for a steep mark-up. For a hundred more or so you're getting into EG territory.

It would put you pretty much in EG calf territory. I reckon a shell boot MTO fro C&J would line up at around £850, less for a shoe.

I'm still thinking of getting my own MTO sorted, just need to think about the details...

11.5 UK vs the Barrie's 11 US? Are you doing -1/2 from TTS for the Barrie and +1 from TTS for the Islays?

US sizes were used..

TTS for the Islays.

That would mean the Islay is marked a 10.5UK? Correct? Just looking for clarification. I hope to acquire the Islay and the Skye someday.

For those who have some of the different boot styles and are more familiar with the different lasts your help is greatly appreciated. Past experiences I have been normally a 10.5UK across all makers (Church's, Cheaney, Trickers...). For reference, I can do a 10UK Trickers but prefer the 10.5UK. Most end up being a bit long but end up molding to the feet nicely, long heel to ball I am guessing. I am a 11D in Alden Barrie boots. I have had success with this until I visited a C&J retailer this weekend. I must have sucker written on my forehead. I was sent home with a 10UK Coniston and a 11UK Snowdon. The 10UK Coniston is snug. I tried the 10.5UK Coniston and it felt big, but was not permitted to flex or bend the boot. The 10UK Snowdon was way tight. They had no 10.5UK so the 11UK it was and they are a bit long. Both boots are remarkable by the way!

What I am asking... is this type of sizing normal for C&J lasts? Going up and down 1/2 sizes?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

You may want to try to get a hold of the scarsdale, a handgrade wholecut on the 358 last.

If IIRC, it's like 50% up, no? It is quite substantial though which alwayed turned me off. Today: C&J Cottesmore
