@PCK1

Burgundy's good, with you there, likewise on golf grain (Nah in green).

Blue, those are interesting. Off the shelf nearest here in Blighty is the Hartland, they call em Ocean not blue. A mate of mine has em and they do look excellent, though I'm not sure about the natural colour welt or dainite sole.

Horses for courses I suppose.

@Farhad19620 they don't stand a chance at work tomorrow! icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Funny Cleav...here in the U.S. that style is called the Milton....and the Hartland is another suede boot...but on a different last.

Everyone, just wondering about levels of formality with these DMs, I have a couple suede monkton (SM) which I view to be quite casual, step up (ish) from a loafer. So where do you guys wear DMs of this colour, golf grain, etc

Looking for a range of opinions and views, grateful if you'd share, not upset if you don't.

The double monks you have can be worn formal IMHO why not? I would wear these in the summer with no show socks and linen trousers or chinos. I can not see why shoes have to be so formal when 99% of the public do not even care what they have on their feet! The only time I would not wear these is if I am going for a James Bond type of evening diner wearing a tux. which I don't do! Enjoy your shoes and wear them wherever you like.

Heres our Milton on a different last 348. Which I understand to be the unlined Tetbury.

Have we wires crossed bro? WTF, always good to chat about these things.

Yeah...i think i might be confused

I should know as I have both the milton and the hartland

The milton is just an unlined Tetbury...on the 348.

My Hartland's are on the 359 last...but the photo you have posted looks like the 348 last...which is where I got confused.

But now...having looked at there website...the photos are identical to yours and the Hartland is indeed the 359...not 348.

Great shoes, I would like to hear how these soles are on ice and/or snow? I am looking to have some boots made, and I do not like the commando. I am leaning towards the ridgeway.

I have lots of C & J and probably 20% of then come from this source.

I have a contract to provide services to a big organisation in Northampton and go down twice a month to review matters etc.

I like to go on a Friday so I can drop in to the factory shop. I may get lucky and pick up something I want once every two or three months. I really don't need anymore shoes.

What was missing from my rota was a DM so I was prepared to buy from Colmore Row in Birmingham, however I was in Northampton on Friday and these beauties were there.

GB£150, absolute daylight robbery. As you can imagine I was very pleased. I believe there to be nothing wrong with except badged up as size 7, when they are actually 7.5UK, there are no marks or blems at all as far as I can see.

I considered buying the blue Monkton, also at GB£150 but couldn't see where I would put em into a fit. So didn't buy them. I may regret that.

Here's the pics taken on the day, 21st.

C, you're holding out on me! Hmmm, any HG boots in 6E?

Since you're there and so close to EG too... fing02[1].gif

I'm jealous.

Unfortunately we have not had any ice or snow here this year hence the flooding! but I have used these soles on my Edward Green boots and prefer these the best for me as far as rubber soles go.
The only reason I bought these instead of the brogues from C&J directly was due to the sole as I am not a great fan of any other rubber sole.

LOL, the laces were only for a bit of fun, of course they are back on the dark brown laces and as I mostly wear red socks I would never be able to get away with red laces as well!

D, not holding out on yer. mwink[1].gif

I'm next in town on 7th March, special request?

HG boots? What you mean?

They got plenty in UK6 but there's normally a scuffle at 2pm when they open from a few(!) Eastern visitors around the 6 and 7s, though they seem to go for a lot of loafers

The organisation we provide services for are directly opposite EG on the Billing Road, I may make an appointment to go next time (7th)

Aint life great biggrin.gif
