Haha, funny you should mention it; today I wore mine for the first time in the season as well. And I think it made me less scared of the weather coming up :)

I just got a pair of grasmeres in the tan scotch grain.  I notice that C&J finish these with a coat of dark brown polish to add a bit of contrast - do you guys do the same when polishing these, or do you just use a light or clear polish and that's it?

C&J's HG leather ages so well:

I just ordered a pair of C&J Islays and was wondering whether I should purchase a pair of boot shapers with my C&J shoe trees.

I've never owned anything more than ankle high and was wondering if boot trees are necessary or since most of the creasing takes place in the vamp area, regular shoe trees suffice.

I just use standard shoe trees on my pair.

I have a pair of Islays, five or so years old. They've had plenty of wear and haven't been babied.

I only use the C&J standard shoe trees and they're holding up just fine.

I have a few tan pairs and they get a great patina after 12 months and the right attention.

That's right! They used to be one of the SF darling shoes (e.g., EG Dover) now you barely see any pics of them up anymore.
