It is high, even for HG. In the US market, EGs do run >$1,200 though.

^^

Shoe in link looks rather similar to the aforementioned Claredon. I have the Peal version (in Beechnut), which I bought for $450 (channeled soles) during a sale some months ago.

Interesting ...

Yep, at that price I'm thinking other brands rather than C&J.

That is the conventional wisdom, and, even if true, I"ll take my peal version and $500 in my wallet. biggrin.gif

Anybody own the Islay boot? I saw it on my recent trip and was really impressed. One of the finest country boots I've seen.

I snagged a pair around March of this year. I love them, but I haven't worn them much in the late spring and into the summer. During those last couple of weeks in winter, I generally just wore them with flannel pants and odd jackets. I'm looking forward to fall to bring them back out. I fully plan on wearing them when it snows too.

That would be my idea too. You get them in that dark brown scotch grain?

Yes, they are in the dark brown scotch gain. Just be aware that the speed hooks will shred your pant hem stitching. The first day I wore them, one of the hooks caught on the stitching and undid the hem. It wasn't a big deal, as the tailor fixed it. I still haven't come up with the perfect solution to this, but so far, taping over the hem stitching on the inside seems to be working. I use that fabric tape that women use to tape clothes to their body to keep things in place.
