Interesting, it is a little worrying if you cannot find Portman on our website. I am looking at it now!   http://www.crockettandjones.com/Product/Portman-3-Darkbrown#.UTB_IDDJR8E

Which website are you looking on?

Here is some background info for you on PORTMAN... The original Portman was on the 337 last, Portman 2 was on the 350 last (the last was subsequently dropped from our entire range) Portman 3 is on 358 last which is currently run in London only

If any other version of Portman are available in store, it will be old stock and probably only available during sale periods.

I hope the above helps.

I was at one of the C and J stores in London just now and one of the assistants kindly told me that the price would go up tomorrow so its best to buy shoes today. According to them its inflation increasing the price of leather. I can't remember exactly but cordovan will be around +£40, hand grade +£30, standard grade +£20... (I can't remember exactly so please don't quote me on this one). Just thought I should let you C and J fans know. Sorry if it was already known.

+1 i also found out that Barker and Gaziano & Girling had their price up as of today 1st  March. I still think it will not deter prospective shoe lovers from buying their prefered brand.

Perhaps the gentleman/gentlewoman from CJ can assist me with this. I recently inquired about getting the alex constructed to handgrade specifications, the price I was given with $1250. USD. I certainly understand and am willing to pay a premium for this service however I cannot fathom doubling the cost of the shoe. I really like the product and I'm not special ordering anything of of the ordinary, same last etc. The weymouth is the same shoe minus the brogue for $780.00 USD. I really had my heart set on a handgrade Alex.

BTW do c and j run a bit big in size? When I tried a size 6 today it felt like a size 7 for most of my other shoes.

Is the lacing on oxfords on the 337 last supposed to close completely? Here is a picture of my Audley with a visible V-shaped opening.

I measure 11B/C with one foot slightly bigger than the other, but I suspect that my foot volume is actually greater than indicated by the sizing due to quite high arches and little fingers sticking out. This shoe is UK 9.5E on 337 and it initially felt tight in the vamp under the tongue. After wearing them around the house a bit they start to feel more comfortable in the vamp, but I doubt I will be able to close the V much more.

I am on the lookout for a few more pairs on the 337 last, but naturally I want to make sure I don't keep buying misfitting shoes. Should I be concerned about the V-shaped lacing or is this part of the design? Are there other C&J lasts or shoe manufacturers that would suit me well?

Please no comments on the color choice, I needed a pair of black cap toes.

Ah see this is how the confusion began lol the guy posted pics of his boots I asked if that was the portmans I got the name confused I meant to ask if that was this: http://m.crockettandjones.com/Product/Cowdray-2-Darkbrown

Portmans are a totally diff thing it's the 1/2 boot or whatever they call it.

What was the boot posted? No one did actually confirm what it was, I just somehow managed to confuse the names. Sorry bout that.

The UK site I meant to say doesn't sell/show a real boot that is handgrade.
