Not looking to actually turn a profit or anything, just want to pass them on to someone else and get some of my $$ back to use for something else. I picked them up on a trip to the UK, they were a special make up for a shoe store in Scotland in a brown roughout type of leather that I've not seen too often.

Do you have any pics and more details? C&J's rough-out is a great all-weather leather.

I usually detest C&J, yet these shoes are simply sublime on you.

What do you detest about C&J?

Thanks! It's a nice classic last shape and the bal boot design gives a change of pace.

I find the shapes to be incredibly passé and boring. I've never found a shoe that strikes me as truly special as I have with other brands/makers. That said, I recognize the incredible construction and quality that goes into the shoe.

methinks detests is too strong a word! smile.gif i like the handgrade line precisely because they hit the proper balance between sleek and professional for my tastes, which may be boring for some. although i really like the looks of G&G and corthay, for instance, i wouldn't feel comfortable wearing them at the office or during meetings with clients.

I think I agree with you and that's maybe the the reason I've sold most of my C&J and don't regret it. I too recognize the nice quality specially in the handgrade line, I still have the Waymouth and is the nicest wholecut I have including wholecuts from G&G and Vass.

Perhaps detest is too strong, but at least it isn't megaloathe. I understand a lot of the trepidation on the ultra sleek shoes, with you citing arguably the two best examples excluding Sutor, yet it is all about individual preference and confidence. As I've said, that's why this board is Style Forum and not fashion forum, brand forum, or conformaforum, though I'd imagine the conform forum would just be called the conformatorium. I, myself, get self conscious in a "blobby" shoe.

This. They are a beautiful shoe. My EG are more comfortable but boring.
