Since they are on the 348, I doubt they will be blocky. The C&J 348 last is very sleek and perhaps you are looking at the thicker soles. I think they will be fine.

Here's a site with photos of the Westbourne with various polishes and patinas. It's on the 348. http://shoes.cogimator.net/Modele/222/Westbourne Lots of other C&J and other makers in the wild as well.

The 348 is a chisel toe, not blocky at all in my experience.

I am on the verge of purchasing these. Does anyone think these will go well with a charcoal suit?

I have the Westbourne, although those aren't my images. They're a burnished chestnut (according to C&J). I have the Somerville boots which are in a antique chestnut (although a darker color by a grade or two) with polo suede shaft. I consider the Westbourne chestnut to be less consistent with other brands' chestnut colors. The Somerville's chestnut is more common. Westbourne is a lighter shade.

I wear the Westbournes with mid grey, light grey, beige linen, and blue flannel. I wouldn't wear them with charcoal, but any grey short of charcoal would be fine. I only wear black with charcoal.

Hmm, I think I might have to get something in Burgundy then. Maybe the Westfield.

I did see a Westbourne in burgundy on e-bay one time. It may have been a MTO shoe or through some retailer for a special production, though. Normally, I've only seen them advertised in burnished chestnut and black.

No objection - except only to note that a dark burgundy works great with charcoal. But I wear black too. Even a rich dark brown can be pulled off with charcoal if paired with the right ensemble.

If you're looking for an adeleide, Alfred Sargent makes the Moore in oxblood. AFPOS carries them and has most sizes in stock. From what I've read, the AS benchgrade line is finished to or just below the degree of C&J's handgrade line. Might be worth considering.

Thanks for the response, and I think you are correct, when I look at them again it's the soles. And since I need them for the weather here, I'm suddenly not as worried. And thank you scurvyfreedman aswell!

I'm really glad to see there is such a friendly tone on this forum aswell, it's not very common on the internet. :)

I will try to contribute to this thread when I have built up my collection!

Grey goes with everything. 100%! Go for them. Will make a nice combination.

Does anyone have the latest price catalog in PDF form? Also, who can I email at C&J UK to get a MTO price quote? Thanks.

Chepstows with patina after a quick round of Saphir Creme.

I like the look of the Westbournes in brown so much that I will probably go ahead and get them anyway. My next suit purchase will probably end up being mid-gray instead of charcoal, because I think it will look better with the chestnut color.

I've been seriously thinking about a pair of Cottesmore's the last few days.

I saw them while in the Jermyn Street store the other week and then saw a gentleman wearing a similar pair at the races on Saturday.
I thought they looked great and would absolutely fill a gap in my collection.
