For most contracts C&J usually finish the shoes to between bench grade and hand grade standard in my experience.
Not sure if this has been mentioned but I have some nice Kilgour shoes by CJ and they are definitely handgrade, not somewhere in between.
Example is these which are exactly the handgrade model Stanley in black suede - you can see all the handgrade features
I want to get a pair of combat boots. If you wear these hard and beat them up will they look like combat boots? Or should I buy a real pair of combat boots?

waste of money imo to beat up some C&J, get a pair of doc air martins or wolverine to beat a boot up *edit leather is too soft on these to work like combat boots!

What are the features of CJ handgrade shoes, in general?
Hello, I am an 8.5 in Hallams (348 last) , now looking to get some of the beautiful suede albany (337)- anyone know how the lasts compare? I should be ok with the same size, right?
thanks for your help.

I love C&Js too. How do you like the Hallams? What color?
