I love the Brecon as well. To me, they are totally different boots and each has its own function and character. Brecon is timeless.

It's been a while since Northcote (1st on left) has been posted in this thread and its a boot I nearly always overlook when considering a C&J boot.

C&J say the uppers are made with Wax Calf. Is this a corrected grain/binder leather that won't take on a patina over time? BTW Lovely boot collection S_S.

BTW C&J Hallam, an oxford toe cap shoe also comes in waxed calf so owners of that shoe might also have an view on whether the leather is able to take on a patina.

That's why I wear Brecons this bloody rainy day.

BTW Love your collection! You have both Tetbury and Brecon, interesting that I've tried Tetbury, Chiltern and Millbank, and felt uncomfortable in the heel, whilst Brecon/Chepstow don't have this problem.

It is my favoraite C&J last. Fits my foot well in Boots. I am not sure about shoes, probably have to go one size larger to accomadate my high instep.

Thank you. Like I said before, they are very different boots, but they both have their own function. I wear the Tetbury more formally, with suits on the road.

Thank you. Northcote leather is as close to cordovan as you can get without buying cordovan. It is very hard to shine, though. However, it is very dressy and elegant boot. My favarite of the lot.
