As I said in the first post, I have only applied one coat of wax to the creased area of the shoe, so I would be surprised if excess wax were the cause.I Agree

I am going to err on the side of caution for the time being and stay away from the Renomat.  By shoe cream do you mean something like Dark Brown Saphir Pommadier? A good choice  And if this is the right stuff, in future should I be leaving the wax for the toe box and the cream for the vamp? Apply the cream sparingly every 5 or 6 wears, wax is best suited on the toe but a light coat on the vamp will give you a nice shine with protection against the elements.

I apologise for all the Qs.  This has been my first foray into fine shoe-ing and it has left me despairing somewhat and scratching my head.No Worries

My answers in bold.

concur with condition the shoes, they look dry

concur with wax toe, shoe cream the rest. i found more than once waxing makes the shoes tacky

You can always just call the C&J stores directly and have them ship to you. The only difference is that they do charge shipping which many other retailers usually waive.

Anyone knows how the last 72 (EX width) fits compared to 314 ?

I found the 314 (E) to narrow for me, is the 72 similar or more generous?

Thanks

Is the 72 a C&J last? What shoes are on this last?
Yes, the Langham tassel is on this last, and the Shipton & Heneage Wilton that I want to buy (available both in EX and G width)

What do you think is the Audley to formal for wearing only casual with jeans?

its a balmoral shoe. It wont look good, the proportions will be off. the leg opening will probably be too large compared to the size of the audley
