You do seem to have a fair few pairs, all of which look in great condition.

I have a terrible habit of favouring a particular pair and wearing them to death, although I'm gently easing out of it. I try to keep all of them maintained to a high level but it's really time consuming, still havnt quite mastered the mirror shine in fact I ruined a pair trying to achieve one. I'm still puzzled over this.

Must say I can empathise with going with shoes each morning we love.

I personally think a mirror/spit shine can be over done.

That said once done, to whatever degree, the ongoing maintenance is nothing to speak of. Last night I got those out along side a pair of EG DM's and just gave them a wipe over, hot breath on the toe that was buffed with same cloth. Completed with a nylon polish or two. 30 seconds start to finish. This morning I chose the Alex, just felt like it.

I might have to quiz you about your method at some point!

This might sound odd but I don't own ANY black shoes, I cant seem to find any I fancy. I major in tan but also have cognac, blue, dark brown, burgundy, tweed, blue suede, green suede and grey suede. Sigh. It's a cruel world.

Not odd at all, if you don't go for it or have no cause to wear them then why should you. Cruel world indeed.

Sorry everyone if this has derailed the thread

My cognac boots are Cottesmore, they don't get too much wear as I struggle to match them up to outfits. Still a beautiful boot though.

(There you go, back on topic...)

Excellent, great boot indeed, any pics of your Cottesmore? What have you teamed them up with previously?

Grey flannels, gun club jacket, hacking jacket, tweed etc? All great pairings smile.gif

No pics at present but I can certainly sort that out at some point in the near future and post one on here.

Mainly dark denim, but it has a tendency to look a little "cowboyesque", I do have some grey chambray trousers and a little tweed so I'll look into that. It's getting the whole look right though, my tastes seem to be a little eclectic at best. Goes with being a younger guy I guess.

Just order my first pair of C&J's from the Jeremy St. store. Shoes will be sent UPS on Monday, what can I expect duties to be (which i am sure there will be)?

It depends, customs duties vary from country to country, it also depends on the cost of the shoes. You're really best off asking your local customs office, they'll tell you the free tax threshold and the percent of tax thereafter.
