Can somebody do a comparison between bench grade and hand grade CJ vs BB Peals.

I read that BB Peal quiality is somewhere between the bench grade and hand grade line but futher comments are appreciated.

Most of the C&J made Peals are benchgrade quality. But not all Peal shoes are from C&J. Some are made by Loake and Alden.

To continue this topic, these C&J Peal shoes (I believe) are higher quality than benchgrade, but lower than handgrade. It has a closed-channeled sole, which is only typically found in the handgrade line.

^ Peal shoes by Alden? Is that right? Highly skeptical as BB stresses the ^#@$ out of them being made in England. I know AS made some but Loake also sounds incorrect - at least now. Maybe in the past.

Some of the casual styles are loake price point is usually the indicator as it's on crepe soles mostly

And jezec I want to answer your questions but you ask so many that can be answered by making the effort to search. C&J peals are bench grade with channeled soles

I've got a pair of dark brown scotch grain Tricker's Burfords and that leather also seems to be thinner with somewhat plastic feel.

The BBBFs look a lot better after a little cream but they do have a bit of sheen to them.

You mean the STP Burfords? I owned a pair briefly and was very unimpressed with the quality of them - even the lining leather felt cheap and I wondered if the STP boots and shoes are made specifically for them, designed to be sold at a lower price than 'normal' Tricker's. I handled one of the Oi Polloi scotch grain Stows around the same time and there was a palpable difference in leather quality.

The scotch grain on the Islays is lovely and supple after a few wears.

Bit like the Shipton & Heneage C&Js, it goes to show that a cheaper product may actually have been made to a cheaper specification in the first place.

Yep, STP Burfords. STP have such a regular supply that they must be made for them.
The Not Stows I have seem equal to regular production models.

Thanks for the kind words Brummie but I agree that a boot like the Coniston is best worn without a high shine.
Actually, these are the best looking Conistons I've seen.
I personally keep the high shine for more townsy boots like the Somerville and the poncified Galways.

Is BB making this boot anymore?

Love the shell, eventually sold of the bbbf conistons as I kept reaching for the shell

^^^ Man I need a pair of those shell captoes in my life...

Yeah they are very nice Namor. Still kicking myself for not grabbing those when they were on sale a while back. Haven't seen them online in ~1 year or so. They are basically the Harlech in #8 right?
Thanks guys solid pair of boots. The burgundy shell has remained dark and doesn't exhibit any "dryness".

Yeah it looks like harlech but on the rounded 240 last
post #5893 of 12786
The last looks different from the Harlech's 341.

What jeans are those, Namor?
Yeah they are different: 240 is slightly more elongated

Jeans are NN07 dark overdye. Fuxking awesome jeans. The points of contact acquire a high sheen akin to a worn in waxed jacket.

Hey guys,

Are any of the C&J shoes for BB on the 348 last?
