the description has always said "brown" and it's always been wrong :)
I bought them nearly 2 years ago. the color is pretty similar to AE burgundy shell, not the Alden version of #8. it's certainly not the brown on the Lindrick / Marlow line.
the wonders of gmail. conversation from January 2011:
Me to C&J:
"Hello,
I am interested in the Peal & Co.
00ae.png
Cordovan Boot you have made for Brooks Brothers. But, I am unclear on what color this boot is. Is it Dark Brown or Burgundy?
This is the boot:
http://www.brooksbrothers.com/IWCat...lor=BROWN&sort_by=&sectioncolor=&sectionsize="
C&J to me:
"the Peel boots are made in a Burgundy shell cordovan."

They arrived today. The box actually says "Burgundy Cordovan." But yours and mine are apparently different in color (and I have burgundy shell from AE and Color 8 shell from Alden). Mine are basically indistinguishable from Alden's Color 8, which I love and have much of. :slayer:

I apologize in advance if I am posting in the wrong place, but I am looking for sizing advice on the Hallam (348 last).

The best-fitting shoes I have are size 7UK Inca last Carminas, I am size 7.5EE in AE 5 last, and 7.5E Alden Barrie.

From what I have gathered in all the sizing threads, it seems like 7F or 6.5F would be my size for CJ 348 last. Am I right? Should I go for 7F or 6.5F?

the BB peal boot is lighter. Makes since because Alden colors their burgundy to give it the dark purple color

Alden's color 8 varies, even if slightly (and sometimes not slightly), from shoe to shoe and boot to boot. I have 12 Alden models in color 8, and I have AE burgundy shell, and I have vintage Florsheim Imperial burgundy shell. My C&J Boots are essentially identical in color to some of my Alden color 8 models.

Cross topic.

C&J Harvard - Dark brown cordovan (unlined).
One of the 3 best loafers ever IMO.

Does anyone know what model this is? It appears to be a discontinued Handgrade model.

Someone must have returned these, so when I saw them up on Yoox again I pounced. Definitely handgrade but they are labelled both on the box and inside the shoe as the "Osterley" model. I can't seem to find any info about these anywhere. Is anyone familiar with that model? Any idea of the last? Since it was Yoox, I'm assuming they could be new old stock.

Nice boots. By the way, how can you fit C&J 12E and also Santoni Euro 12 1/2F? There is a full size and a half difference (plus a 1/4) in the 2.

The Santonis that I have are LE made for US market in size 13M. They fit well. I do not conform to one size. Different brands and lasts fit differently. For exanple, I wear UK 13E in G&G.
In Edward Green, I need UK 13 as well.
