Isn't the 337 roomier than the 348?

Edit: (originally I posted the reverse - maybe I was drinking and posting)

337 is narrower and shorter than 348 or 358 (348 is bench grade version of 358). Most people size down a half size for those two lasts versus the 337.

Strange.  I've had both and could have sworn the 348 in the same size is both longer and wider.

Pliny,

Sorry you are absolutely correct. My bad. The 348 (bench grade) and 358 (handgrade) are longer and wider than the 337 most people size down from those two (half size) for the 337. Apologies. Brain fart.

I tried on a pair of Weymouths in UK7 when I was in London, and they were a perfect fit, while my Lowndes, also in UK7 is a bit thight. Weird.

No, the 337 is a more generous (width) last than the 358. The 358 is longer however due to it's narrow toe.

I think that width is more a question of how your foot lays in the foot bed. To me, the 337 feels wider but I think we are probably saying similar things--relative to length and foot position. Suffice it to say, with C&J shoes you really need to try them on. Their lasts vary across the range more than most and the fit is quite different with each.

Of course & trying them on is the only way to really know if a shoe is suitable. However a in direct comparison of lasts the 337 is the wider - Fact.

This is also my experience. My forefoot is relatively wide and the 337 is the best last for me. Fortunately, I also find it the most appealing.
