I've got some Luchesse 1883 full quill ostrich boots that I love plus several pairs of C&J amongst other English makers. It's not mutually exclusive.

Nice...mine are Lucchese Classic full quill ostrich in dark brown.

Just out of interest why would Lubbock be peculiar in this regard?

Seems to me Michael has a smashing shoe collection there, is he on his own in Lubbock?

Lubbock is sort of Texas's version of New Jersey - a place everyone not from there likes to joke and tease about. For example the folk singer Nanci Griffith, who is from Austin, Texas, tells a story while introducing a song on her live album that starts:

"Most of my mother’s family came from way out in west Texas in a little town called Lockney, which is somewhere close to Lubbock, but not too close to Lubbock, nobody likes to be too close to Lubbock."

Barney's online website has them in US sizes - that's where I got mine. The Skye were ordered direct from C&J through their Manhattan store location and they had to figure out the UK vs. US size difference.

I understand some folks order their C&J shoes/boots from UK sources, but I don't know if there is much money saved with that route or how much trouble it may be. Perhaps somebody else could chime in.

So I just bought the Ralph Lauren Linderick boot in cigar shell cordovan. Would lasted trees, on the 325, be a good investment? Or would my standard Woodlore trees from JAB do the trick? Also, I assume that the shell used for these boots is horween, but can someone confirm for me?

They are by request only from what my C&J contact tells me. The micro rubber is a thinner sole. Quite comfy.

The Ryder III, a bit clunky looking, looked at it yesterday but Church's QC prevents me from reaching for my credit card.

Look at the C&J Tetbury, less clunky than the Molton and Ryder III.

Can you explain the micro rubber a little more? Does it have the same traction pattern as dainite but thinner?

I actually already own the Tetbury in black nubuck, and it's awesome to wear with formal wear. I'm hoping to get some dark brown suede chukkas for everyday wear with jeans. I like the Church's, but I have almost entirely C&J already and they've never let me down.
