If they hadn't stopped stocking their Islay I'd be all in. It seems last season was the end of the road for it baldy[1].gif

General C&J question:

If I don't care about bark tanned soles, closed channel stitching, or fiddled waste, my understanding is that the only benefits that remain from hand grade over main collection is the quality of the upper leather, and the exclusive lasts only available in hand grade. In this case, is the price difference from main collection to hand grade worth it?

Can anyone tell me about this shoe on purdey? Is it C&J? If so the last and model? Thanks!

Always a tricky question, but, yes, for me the price difference is justified given the noticeably better leather quality (and the soles, the durability is so much better). A big difference when the shoes are new, and the difference only becomes greater with years of wear.

Why don't you care about that? Are you going to change the soles with studded Dainite soles immediately?

Of course not.  But seriously,  what do you care about?

Ah, ok. Yes, I'd have seen the storm welt if I'd looked properly!
