post #11311 of 12858

Trying to decide between the C &J dark brown Skye and the Peal & Co burgundy cordovan boots. Apart from these, I have the J Crew PCT boots in Color 8 and am also on the current brown Dundee GMTO.

The Skye and Peal & Co boots are similar in price. Both have a dainite sole I prefer. If I had to choose one that will go well with chinos and jeans alike, what would that be?

I am leaning towards the Skye but I am a not certain of my sizing in the 335 last (I went with 8.5E for the Dundee GMTO). I have read some posts on here suggesting to go half a size down from barrie and others suggesting to go a full size down from barrie for the 335 last. On the other hand the Peal and Co boots in 9D fit me perfect.

I am a 9.5D on the brannock and wear 9D on the Alden barrie.

@mogili222 Do you know what last the Peals are on? If not, why not ask Brooks Bros? If they are on the 335, then you will know what size to go for in the Skyes.

Personally, I prefer the plain cap of the Peals. It makes them a little more versatile, although it sounds like your intended use is primarily informal.

@Rstldr

I would actually recommend Rancourt.  They will make you a Whiskey (Carmel) shell cordovan loafer in your exact width and length and they will also make 2 different sizes for your feet if necessary.

Cheaper than C&J and Alden to boot...or, loafer in this instance...:rimshot:

The CJ for BB are on the 240 Last.  They have the potential to be dressed up or down.  I own that boot and think the world of it.

The shells from CJ are noticeably less eggplant purple than Alden, so you will not have the same overlap in shade.

Hope this helps.

@Watchman1 Thanks for the Rancourt recommendation.  I have looked at them before, and will place a sizing order.  Would be a much quicker turnaround for their caramel shell compared to a whisky LHS.  Thanks again!

Personally, I'd go with the Skye since you already have a captoe in the J Crew boot and another cap toe in the Dundee.
