Can you send them back? If you're not satisfied you should return them. Those flaws seem unacceptable to me also.

CTB, how good are they :slayer:

Decent, eh mate? Still very much second fiddle to my Islays, even though these are arguably classier boots. Spent a decent hour in the shp today, always good to have a choice of several teas whilst chewing the fat with Mark.

I'm having a rare evening of polishing tonight so, weather permitting, expect a couple more pics tomorrow...

If only I lived near the C&J factory store! Did you guys see much in the way of 12E? If I called would they mail to NYC do you reckon?

Any of the CJ Stores will, don't know about factory shop. They are only open Friday afternoons GMT 2-5pm. I might pop in once or twice a month and their phone is ringing off the hook. The place can be really busy so sometimes they can't answer all the calls, if you gonna ring ring later in the afternoon. Whether they'll post out I dunno. Assume so but Worth asking the question.

You sure on sizes etc

Shoes are a little less ruddy in real life. I only actually polished the latter pair; the other two just got a coat of Lexol to condition them.

I did, however, go to town on this beautiful old pair of Church's Consul which I'm guessing are three if not four decades old.

Hey guys, hope you can forgive my poor English which is my 2nd language. Have actually received my 1st pair of C&J (Westbourne) but I find it a bit disappointing, especially when compared with my pair of Meermin which costs 50% less. Really would like to hear what you think - am I being too picky?

Most of the flaws appear on the soles. Not a big deal for me but I am a bit surprised by the rough seal. The right shoe is a bit off balance (not sure if the pic can show it), it shows more of the welt on the left side than the right side. There is also a small crease on the shoe. Here are some pics.

Small crease in the middle

The crease looks like a simple cattle mark/fence scratch. The soles indicate, to me at least, that the shoes are a return. Clearly the sole issues will go away after one day of wear. As for the off balance issue, I think small imperfections like this are part of buying bench made shoes. All those issues aside, I have learned that if you are not 100% happy with a purchase like this, you should return them, it will annoy you for ever. On the other hand, if you can see past these issues, I would call the store you bought them from, and explain that you thought you were buying a brand new pair of shoes, not some returns. Ask them for some price improvement, rather than sending them back. I would be looking for something around 25% or more. When faced with a return, for valid reasons, most will negotiate. Good luck.

What were the prices at the factory store?

Dependent on which shoe £130-180GB

the staff said before Christmas that it was rumoured that CJ would be putting up factory shop prices as they had remained static for too long while store prices had risen.
