Hi,

Am looking for sizing advice.

I am currently on Church's Consul 173 last, size 6.5G (wide).

Keen to try C&J, but unfortunately they are not available in stores in my part of the world for me to physically try them.

Can anyone who has tried Church's 173 last, in G sizes advise which C&J lasts (and width) matches well?

Thanks.

I have a 9G Church's Ryder III Chukka boot (best fitting shoe in my wardrobe) and I am always a size UK 9 E in Crockett Jones.

I owned this model in that last and fitting. If you're looking for a C&J model similar to the Consul, meaning, oxford model in calf and single leather sole, I'd advice you the Connaught 236 last. E fitting which I own too.
If you have a wide foot, go for the same size of the consul: 6,5 Uk E. Keep in mind the Connaught are in my opinion a bit roomer at the ball foot, so I believe even UK 6 E should fit fine.
I personally went down half of size from Church's G to C&J E regarding oxford models.
If beside Curchs' you wear Wide fitting, go for 6,5 If for other brands you usually wear a regular fitting, go for 6 UK.

Just my 2 cents based on my personal experience with those 2 models.

Just curious if there is anyone in the UK who might be willing to be a proxy for the C&J "outlet" I realize this is a long shot, but I recently sold my Tetbury's because the 348 does not work for me, and I wanted to replace them with the Brecon chukka.

If not no worries.

Best,

I'd like to change the colour of at least one pair from that kind of reddish tan/chestnut colour to a plain and darker brown. What i have here is Saphir Pommadier and Saphir Pate de Luxe wax in dark brown as well as in black. Will this work?

Yes indeed,
However a mahogany brown as intermediate shade would be better to create more depth.

Apply only few thin layers of creams, saphir cream is seriously very pigmented.
I made mistakes in the past abusing with its use.

Try to use more the wax which is easier to remove in case of error.
Use black only on toes/ heels.

Hope this help.

I like these C&J for Foster & Son. Good deal at £275 with post costs included! My first Chelsea boots, never liked the look of them but now, love them and the snuff. Cheers

It looks like the Foster & Sons shoes from the recent sale have gone to consignment. I picked up a pair of F&S Cheaney's for £99.

I've been wanting for a while to get a pair of C&J cordovans and quite like the look of Skye. However I tend to like my shoes sharp and sleek and so far have only worn 341 and 348 lasts. Is the 335 last as sleek or is it more "rounded"?
