I'm encouraged to hear that 341 boots are a good fit relative to Barrie, since a pair of Harlechs in shell is on my wish list. May I ask which 341 boots you have?
Even though I do not own 341, I have to jump in here: the old Barrie, last is a very refined anatomical last. The emphasis is fit and comfort rather than looks. The 341 has a much narrower toe box that is shaped in a very unphysiological way. I would go so far to say it is pathological for most toes.

Barry is much more like 378 or 335 or 365, though 365 is more like true balance last.

I happen to have a shell harlech. Left is unlined and unstructured on barrie.

Before adding anything to the official GMTO file, can I gauge interest in two ideas (I personally love to do both pairs):

Last would have to be a generous one - I'm told the 365 is their most generous. But I also own no C&J, so I don't know what I would propose at this exact moment for this spec. Open to conversation.

Model 1:
Crockett & Jones Radnor
Veldt construction
Black Russian Grain
Matching tone stitching/hardware/edge
Fully Lined
Faux toe cap
No leather pull loop
Ridgeway outsole

Model 2:
Crockett & Jones Radnor
Veldt construction
OG Russian Grain (the reddish brown stuff)
Matching tone stitching/hardware/edge
Fully Lined
Faux toe cap
No leather pull loop
Ridgeway outsole

Basic Style:

Faux Toe Cap:

Another idea would be to substitute the "swooping" side panel for a straight-cut seam:

I am interested in the first makeup with the black Baker's RG and am happy with either the straight or swoop side.

Have you checked with C&J if they will do veldtschoen on RG? I remember something about EG having some problems with the RG Galway?
