We all have a man of style in us. It's your job to discover that. It won't be an overnight process, but I respect the fact that your willing to change for the better. I would start by studying blogs, pictures and forums to get a better understanding of stylish men and how to stay that way. Know the essentials in Menswear and from there, it's all a personal choice....You can check my blog out for any inspiration, photos, tips, and guidelines to become the style aficionado that every lady loves...

I *am* reading the forum, but there are millions of posts here, and most of them don't apply to me.
I'm trying my best, but if someone like you, who already has fashion experience were to help, life would be much easier.

And I know you don't care what I look like; I meant more pictures of my terrible outfits etc.

Most of the goldman guys i know (especially at the associate level or below) dress like crap. Typical loose fitting brooks slacks with whatever shoe they could find at nordstrom and a billowy dress shirt.

Not to mention half the time the stuff is wrinkled because they slept (from 2am to 6am) at their desk.

So then, what department are you working in, and are you gonna be at 200 west?

Thanks SF (a new me)

keep reading...patience...we all have our individual style/taste...use the search function...read the WAYWRN threads...

you mentioned casual style...shoes? Jackets? pants/trousers/denims? color? only you can answer these questions. IMO, if you are expecting members here to tell you "how" to dress, tough call...
Now, if you need recommendations/suggestions, then you have to be specific....

my suggestion, start with shoes...what style/kind/color? again, it goes back to your own style...

Buy cheap **** until you develop your own style. If you get any legitimate recommendations in this thread, they will surely be high quality items outside the price range of the typical college student. Even if you have the means, I suggest sticking with fast-fashion versions of anything suggested(except staple navy sportcoats and grey flannel trousers), until you decide what you really like.

Read WAYWRN and follow people like UrbanComposition, NiiDawg, KtownGreg, NBOD, Orgetronix, MBreinin, SpooPoker, and Phat Guido. They all have routinely excellent demonstrations of a broad range of good looking fits. There is no quick fix, and no single solution. P.S. Good luck in your new career with the great vampire squid wrapped around the face of humanity.

browse through the what are you wearing thread, find a few pictures you like the look of and think will be appropriate, write down the objects, go out and fit a ton of stuff on and then buy a few, post pics and let's take it from there...

Many disgraceful responses above.

White dress shirts, light blue dress shirt(s), a blue-striped dress shirt. Without button-down collars. Black cap-toe dress shoes with leather soles, but no square toes or bicycle toes. Another pair will be needed, maybe brown, but that depends on the dress code. A new navy or charcoal suit likely is needed, but who knows whether a suit would be worn regularly there. It could be odd jacket and dress pants (avoid black). Any suit/jacket should be made of wool (say, 70% or more). Brooks Brothers probably would be a good source for many of the items, depending on the budget. Have all clothing items tailored if in doubt.

I think he'd do well to invest in a couple high-quality items. (Well, perhaps those considered entry level on this forum). Especially if the internship is paid.
- 2 or 3 pairs of shoes from the AE classic collection (not necessarily new -- can be bought on eBay or B&S forum)
Park Avenue Strand Fifth Avenue Walden Randolph McAllister MacNeil
- 1 well-fitting, solid color suit, at least half-canvassed (try Century 21 in lower Manhattan)
Brooks Brothers Fitzgerald (canvassed) hickey (half-canvased) CC Corneliani (half-canvassed) Corneliani (canvassed) Canali (canvassed) Polo Ralph Lauren (half-canvassed) Newer Jack Victor (half-canvassed) Benjamin from eHaberdasher (canvassed)
- 1 navy or charcoal sport coat - 5 or 6 dress shirts that fit in the collar - 3 or 4 pairs of FLAT-FRONT wool slacks - A couple solid and simple patterned ties (3.25'' to 3.5'' in width) - 1 decent dress belt - An iron and ironing board

Re suits and jackets: a style newbie should not be ordering important clothing without first trying it on in person.
