I had a Samsonite Black Label. The warranty servicE was amazing. Brand new bag instantly after mine broke in Tampa. You can find them online/ebay for cheap.

The weight of the luggage is an important consideration. If you check the luggage, you may incur fees based on weight. If you carry-on, you'll have to drag it around on your own. I have a good set of Atlantic Graphite Lite 2. It's not exactly the cheapest luggage in the world but it is rugged yet very lightweight. Highly regarded.

muji wouldn't be bad, but it's probably way marked up over there. They're only like $20 for a nylon roller carry on in Japan. How about Proteca? I don't know how much they are exactly but they're a plastic hardshell like Rimowa but I think they're less than half the cost. My girlfriend has one that has taken many trips and works like a charm. edit: nevermind, they're a japanese company. Thought they were from somewhere else.
