Michael Andrews Bespoke? Thoughts?

What is the general consensus on Michael Andrews Bespoke? Are they good? Worth the price?

Very fashion forward. Most of the stuff I have seen has pull marks all over. It seems to be Thick as Thieves for people with more money to burn.

I was checking this out and then saw a picture of the man himself making a fairly rookie mistake IMHO of using a Full Windsor with a button-down collar.



Am I an insufferable snob? Or am i missing something "hip?"

He is used by Dan Trepanier of Style Blogger fame. I find the stuff is pretty fashion forward but no more so than Black Label RL, Etro, Paul Smith, etc. Trim jackets, slim pants, etc. Pretty standard GQ stuff if that is what you are looking for. I've seen a number of things I could wear easily.

he seems like a nice guy although I am in my early 20s and cannot afford his service to provide any feedback. Maybe someday..

Makes sense, his sense of style seems to match up with Trepanier.

Anyone have any reviews on their custom suits?

Bump - I have a strong feeling they are a storefront for HK made-to-measure "custom" suits.

Bump again. Now they've opened a store in DC. Apparently it features a fully stocked bar, which seems rather tacky and gimmicky to me.

Just my non-sense, but I have been on a scrupulous journey in search of the best bespoke suit in my price range. I have purchased MTM suits from Duncan Quinn (his bespoke is not what my wallet will allow), they fit great, modern design with old world craftsmanship. I am not afraid of colour, which has made my pursuit that much more difficult. Lord Willy's isn't my cup of tea, Alton Lane is pathetic, they troll other haberdasheries hunting for clients. I find that quite tacky and low-rent. Not to mention, the fact they use modern technology for measure (technology is great in certain arenas) this field I find by hand and eye is the best form of measurement. I have perused the local shops in DC as well and have been completely underwhelmed, granted the area is very conservative in terms of dress code so I cannot necessarily blame them.

With the long-winded diatribe above, I made an appointment with Michael Andrews in DC the day they opened. I had a fair idea of what to expect from sites ie The Styleblogger. They have a "no pressure" sales approach I find very refreshing. I was promptly greeted by Alex, VP of Client Services, and Michael himself. I must say that I was 100% pleased with the service and atmosphere. They know their stuff, make wonderful suggestions, and all-in-all care about the clients needs. I left making a purchase consisting of 1 suit, 2 sport coats, a pair of pants and shirt. They provide one of the best experiences I have ever felt in a clothing store.

Note, the DC location has one thing going for it that NYC does not have, Michael's personal attention. Being that it just opened he takes time to meet and discuss your needs. His NYC is too big and busy to get that attention from him nowadays. I HIGHLY recommend at least a visit if you are remotely interested.

Also, the bar is nort gaudy or tacky, they politely offer a drink, which when you're spending that kind of money, I definitely appreciated and welcomed. And, as for the HK "front," Michael does not deny your suit is made "in" HK, and polished off by his personal tailors here in the USA. It is not uncommon, unless you feel the need to spend $4k for a basic "no-frills" suit like that of Duncan Quinn. MAB suits are not glued, they are handmade, fully canvassed. Do not fret about that if you hold any doubts.

Funny that the poster is bashing Alton Lane for trolling other clients

I've seen a few of his suits and been very unimpressed. There are much better options in NYC at the same price.

Agree - this is just spam. Some will never learn

i went to MAB in NYC looking for a made to measure suit for my engagement party,my time frame was tight, i had a budget of 2k, there website stated suits start from entrada at 1000 primo at 1400 and ultimo at 2400,depending on fabric so we looked thru fabric i picked one out he gave me the price, and i was happy with it, but the sales person was pushy on them making the suit using there ultimo process, after speaking again with the sales person he offered for me to come and and have michael measure me to see if they can do it MTM, but i got a phone call saying my time frame was to short, i do like there style yes very GQ, i would like to give them a try again one day, i ended up using some one else and i pick up my MTM suit tomorrow, super excited, i think if you go to a place with a good reputation and you know what you want , the suit will look the same or even better !
