Custom Tuxedo in the DC Area for under $3k? - Page 2

ok. I had a chance to look at a few OTR tuxes. RL and Brooks Brothers. They are just not going to cut it. The jackets are way to big; I have large shoulders and chest but a small waist (32). Just like with my Canali tux I purchased, it looks like I'm swimming in the jackets. And the pants are WAY to skinny. I almost need a straight leg and flare cut at the leg opening so it doesn't look like I'm wearing clown shoes with my large feet.

I want my tux to fit like one of Ari's suits on Entourage. Perfect shoulders, slim, and wider leg pants.

I may have to go M2M because bespoke with Fields or others are going to bust the budget with $3,500+. Just can't justify spending that on an item I'll wear once. I attend black tie events about once every two years max.

So, any reccomendations on M2M in the DC area for tuxes around $2k? This Geoffrey Lewis place? Visiting E/A in Westminster is a LONG drive. M2M concerns me, but if I can find someone that does outstanding work, I would definitely pull the trigger.

Anyone with MTM or bespoke Tuxedo experience or recommendations in DC?

It did not include dinner jackets, but you could write and ask. I'm sure if they've an MTM program for dinner jackets, they'd be willing to accommodate you. And Steed's MTM will probably look better than a bespoke outfit from a less capable tailor.

Please note that the deadline for shipping has now changed to March, 11th due to the change in our itinerary for the USA trip. (Now April, 17th)

[quote=WallaWalla;4156835]I live in the DC area. And have had bespoke suits made by Baytok and Fields. Both have done amazing work but their prices $3,500+ are just out of budget for my wedding tux.[quote]

Just out of curiosity, what do you make of Baytok? Will Field has produced one bespoke suit for me with another couple on the way and I've got a pretty good sense of his house style (mainline Henry Poole). Baytok, on the other hand, is a mystery. How would you describe his silhouette and house style, the quality of work, etc.?

I heard more than a few horror stories about Baytok which is why I simply went to Will and began doing business there. But since you've got suits from both tailors in your closet, I'm interested in how you might compare and contrast the final products.

Hop a flight to Hong Kong. If you plan the ticket correctly, you might just get it all in for $3K, and could do it by the end of March.

Whatever happened to purchasing your tux?

I'm somewhat in the same boat...except my wedding is next year.

So...what'd you end up going with? I'm looking for a bespoke tux in the same price range (ideally). Late June 2012 wedding. Would love any tips you have!

I have had great experiences with Brooks Brothers MTM. Decent value for the cost(Two 1818 suits for $1350) However, you need to pick a line that it suited for your body. That could explain why your previous experiences turned out less than great. For example, i am a very very slim guy. If i chose the Madison cut, it would look bad, even though it would be made to my measurements.
