plus, two reviews isnt representative of anything really. having said that, even at $50 i wouldnt buy them

You could get a pair of keds/vans authentics if it fits the look you're going for. Upside is that they're very cheap

Some of the Clae shoes are nice and simple. Probably a tab over a 100.

You need to realize that most of the time sub 100 shoes are going to suck.

Seavees on sale are pretty nice in the $60-$80 range. I haven't tried keds, but seavees have vans beat in that low-tech sneaker category IMO.

This is a good topic. Mainly because I was looking in my closet at the 20+ pairs of shoes I have, and realized that I will probably never wear most of them ever. I have a pair of MMM sneakers that are my everyday beaters that I got off Yoox for like $218 or something. I wear my MMM GATs occasionally. I wear my Sperrys when the weather is nice. All of my Nike SBs, my Pumas, Supras etc. never see any use. If I had got rid of all those crappy shoes, I could have ended up with a sweet pair of DBSS sneakers and a pair of Lanvins that I would actually wear (and some coin in my pocket after that), instead of 10+ pairs of $100-$200 dollar shoes that I never wear.

Under $100, the only shoes I wear are Sperrys.

Clarks DB should be included.

Grab a pair of nice Sperrys. They'll run you around 80-100 bucks and they are probably the best for that price.

Ain't this the truth, though.

50 bucks buys a pair of chucks, purcells, stan smith etc. Everything diesel is ugly euro garbage.
