Critique my first bespoke suit, what do you think?

Definitely wayyyyy too short on you, 2" at least, as was mentioned. And the short center vent just looks bad. Those two things really detract from it, honestly I would just think it's an ill-fitting off the rack suit. Like a Short length which you extended the sleeves on to fit your tall body.

No offense, but it looks like a women's suit. That vent looks atrocious, it is boxy and needs waist suppression, the button stance is high and the jacket is way to short. Other than that it looks very good.

But in that case why would it matter then?

Polyester is added in order to give cheap, ghastly, bad quality fiber an acceptable appearance, drape, or durability for sale.
So if only 10% polyester was added that is a good sign as the original wool was already of fairly good quality.

And incidentally, it is possible to find better workmanship in many backwater parts of Asia. No, not easy, but definitely possible.
Like where? Are there any examples on this forum that you can remember?

For a suit made in VBC the tailor was asking $800

I wanted the short look, I would say perhaps one inch longer, definatly not two or more though.

I don't really see why the short vent looks bad? It looks perfectly ok to me.

All photos will now be deleted until I can post proper ones, the ones before were taken on self timer from a bad angle and I don't think give a fair representation.

Thanks

No, this does not mean it started as 90% good quality wool. It means it started as 90% bad quality wool and the polyester was added to bring it up to snuff. As I said, adding even a small percentage of synthetic fiber drastically alters the final properties of the fabric. Therefore, polyester is added because the base fiber needs improving. Because of the poor quality base fibers used in most blended fabrics, the desirable properties of good quality 100% wool will most likely be absent, such as drape, pill-resistance, and durability. Polyester also has a nasty tendency to holding onto unpleasant oils and odors, from your body or elsewhere. As far as helping you source a tailor, Asia is a big place and you still haven't revealed your location. For example though, The Philippines is generally the wrong place to go for good clothes, but there are a few tailors in Manila that have been recommended on this forum and elsewhere.

I am located in Thailand

Thanks for the info about the fabrics. I would get a 100% wool fabric next time but I wouldn't be prepared to pay $800 for it unless I knew the outcome would be very good. He was also offering no name 100% wool for about $650

EDIT: It is quite funny because this Tailor WAS recommended on here and elsewhere.

Well, SF can be kind of fickle. There's plenty of good and bad advice around here.

Are you doing the English teacher thing?

While generally true, this is not always the case...the Anderson Little blazer comes to mind as an example of an exception to this statement.

By whom? There are recommenders and there are recommenders. The suit looks like it was cut for a woman.
