Technology and measuring feet!

I hadn't had my feet measured in forever since shoe manufacturers always vary so I figure why bother. Imagine my surprise when I walked into a Red Wing Shoes store and the salesman had me stand on this device that was hooked into a computer to measure my feet! Wow, technology is cool! After about 10 seconds or so I was given all sorts of information about my feet. There was standard stuff like length and width (my left foot is substantially wider than my right). It told me my pronation (basically it said I was flat-footed) but the coolest feature was the color coded graphic of my pronation!!! The last piece of information was the recommended shoe size.

Anyway, I just wanted to share my experience. Also, the Red Wing 1905s are really really really cool but they're also amazingly heavy. If anyone's interested, they were $194.99. This was at the store in Pasadena and the salesman seemed very knowledgeable about his product. I'll probably be getting a pair in the next 3-6 mos from there.

I saw a new gizmo while stopping in the New Balance store. I guess I'll have to go back and try next time I buy runners. EDIT: Accidentally hit the rivet icon and I can't seem to remove it
