I'm curious what usually makes the Alden shoes "irregulars." I haven't seen much on the topic for Alden. There was a very old thread about AE "seconds", where most people thought the flaws were hard to identify.

I ended up ordering 2 pairs of #8 cordovan "irregulars" from shoemart with the recent postings on here. I'm excitedly anticipating their arrival, although I'm also fearful I may be disappointed if there are major flaws. What should I watch out for in particular? Is it usually a problem with the leather upper or is it more a construction issue?
